SEA SURVIVAL COURSE


SEA SURVIVAL & OFFSHORE SAFETY PROCEDURES

Course Aim  :

To provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to assist in their survival in the event of an emergency offshore with the proper use of available emergency equipment.

Course Objectives  :

By the end of the one day programmed, participants will have an understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following :
·  Launch and inflate a life raft.
·  Re‑right and board a life raft unassisted.
·  Life raft management techniques.    
·  Life raft emergency equipment and usage.
·  Basic injury management.
·  Basic survival techniques in open water   

 

Competency  :

All participants must demonstrate the ability to re‑right a life raft unassisted, and complete a questionnaire in order to pass the course.

Method Of Training  :

This course is conducted in two phases. Initial phase is a half day theory course covering all aspects of the life raft and survival at sea. This classroom training utilizes demonstrations of all equipment and discussion on the uses and method of use of the emergency equipment, and Projector presentation to assist.

The second phase is an entirely practical training section conducted in a water environment, where all participants are required to practice and demonstrate the application of all techniques learned in both sessions.
